Hollywood Writers Reach Tentative Deal with Studios, Ending Strike
The Writers Guild of America (WGA) and the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP) reached a tentative agreement on a new three-year contract on September 24, 2023, after a 146-day strike. The agreement includes significant gains for writers in all sectors of the industry, including higher wage floors, improved residuals, and protections against the use of artificial intelligence in writing rooms.
The tentative agreement must now be ratified by the WGA membership before it can take effect.
